Our History
Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church began as a plant of Knox Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. Under the supervision of the Knox session, a small group of members began meeting for worship in a private home in Vienna in January 1957. As their numbers grew, the group moved to various local schools. From 1959-1964, Knox associate pastor Robert Thoburn oversaw the work in Vienna.
In January 1964, the congregation of Knox OPC was formally divided by action of the Presbytery of Philadelphia to form Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The current church property on Cedar Lane was purchased in December 1964. The original church building (shown on the right) was completed in 1968, with additions in 1976 and 2001.
